Mykonos Jun. 2015 - Early Summer Break

Dear Followers!

June has finally come and, with it, Mediterranean summer as well.

This time of the year is good for our mood: sun is setting down later in the evening, the first times at the beach, the first walk in the countryside with a warm temperature, first ice creams and first baths in the sea/rivers/lakes during weekends .

I like this time of the year also because it’s time for me and my boyfriend to have a break from work, since the “long” holidays will be only in September.

In this post, I’d like to tell you about the late spring break we had in Mykonos, in June 2015.

Mykonos is a wonderful island in the Aegean Sea, where we can get to from Italy by a hour flight.

During our holiday we decided to stay in the less partying side of the island, to enjoy tranquility and beach life for 5 days.

We stayed in a little and “very Greek” residence in Ornos – a five minute walk from the namesake beach. Getting to the beach, we had all we need for one week: a supermarket, some taverns and little bistro (a dedicated post will follow ASAP in the “FOOD” section) – where we tasted Greek dishes – and a car/quad rental.

Namely at the car rental shop, on the second day, we hired a quad – by which we explored the whole island. We really loved it: we went north up to the lighthouse, with a breathtaking view over Aegean Sea and Naxos Island, then visited some nice churches and hidden corners so far from the mundanity and crowds of Paradise Beach. After this tour of Mykonos, it was time for us to enjoy some hours at Ornos beach, since the clouds went away and we needed to get some tan :)

On the third day, we got on the bus to Mykonos town to have a walk and take some pics at the Windmills – the symbol of the island.

Reached the main square of Mykonos town, we had a little climb up to the windmills hills where we took some pics about the picturesque town below us. Here you can find some of them…

Walking back to the town centre, we had a look at the famous "Little Venice" - which is a group of coloured housed situated just on the sea!

On the last two days , we had some rest at the beach – since we had a very intense holiday coming ahead – ICELAND!

Stay tuned!

Camilla
